| Abstract | This article describesa quantitative researchstudythat wasdesignedto investigate the present and desirable conditionsforthe development of English for communication competency of Chulalongkorn University supporting staff. The data were provided by Chulalongkorn University supporting staff from purposive sampling,and the toolused in the research was aquestionnaire. The data wereanalyzed usingfrequency, percentage, means, standard deviation,and needs assessment.The results of this research indicatethat the greatest need for improvementisin thelistening competency,followedbyspeaking competency, reading competency, and writing competency, respectively. With respect to On The Job Training and Off The Job Training,the overall present condition of the development of English for communication competency of Chulalongkorn University supporting staff is in low, whilethe desirable condition ishigh. The Needs Assessment identified thatthe specific skillsmost needed in “Off the Job Training” are Professional Learning Community skill and Electronics Learning skill. The Needs Assessmentidentified that the specific skills most neededin “On the Job Training” are Mentoring Program skill and In-work Learning skill. |
