Abstract This study evaluated the effects of different feed types on the growth performance of Myers’ silver rasbora reared in 500-L plastic tanks. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and three replicates per treatment. The fish were fed four types of diets: herbivorous fish feed (T1), carnivorous fish feed (T2), ornamental fish feed (T3), and fry starter feed (T4). The experimental period lasted 90 days. At the end of the experiment, fish fed the carnivorous feed (T2) and the fry starter feed (T4) achieved the highest average weights, at 2.68 ± 0.02 g and 2.76 ± 0.60 g, respectively. The greatest average length was recorded in fish fed the fry starter feed (T4), measuring 6.98 ± 0.07 cm (p<0.05). Daily weight gain, percentage weight gain, daily length increase, percentage length increase, and specific growth rate were all significantly higher in the T4 group (p<0.05). Survival rates were 100% for fish fed herbivorous feed (T1), carnivorous feed (T2), and fry starter feed (T4), whereas those fed ornamental feed (T3) had a survival rate of 93.33%. Production costs, net income, profit, break-even point, and return on investment (ROI) were similar among T1, T2, and T4. In contrast, fish fed ornamental feed (T3) exhibited lower profit, a higher break-even point, and a lower ROI. The ROI values were 23.99% (T1), 23.76% (T2), 12.75% (T3), and 22.67% (T4). Therefore, herbivorous fish feed is recommended for the rearing of Myers’ silver rasbora because it results in lower production costs and provides the highest return on investment.
