Abstract Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) operation and disclosure are central issues that indicate the sustainability of businesses in the modern era, as well as crucial information for financial users to make economic decisions. Due to the importance of such information, this research aims to study the characteristics of firms that affect the willingness to participate in evaluation processes for disclosing such information, which archival data were retrieved from S&P Global Ratings during 2013–2021. The data were evaluated by using the Logistic Regression Model technique. The research results indicate that larger firms as well as firms with good performance are more likely to disclose ESG information than smaller firms and firms with poor performance. In addition, the research results also specify that financial risk and ownership concentration have negative effects on the probability of disclosing ESG information.
