| Abstract | This study aimed to develop a care model for chronic mental patients Using the concept of Community-Based Development and the participation of the Ban Khai Chit Dee community network and to evaluate the effects of this model using the PAOR cycle. The sample consisted of 140 community network members and 59 chronic mental patients who met the criteria from a total of 72 people. The study was conducted from October 2022 to February 2025. Data collection tools included questionnaires and in-depth interview guides. Quantitative data were analyzed using percentages, mean, standard deviation, and paired-samples t-test, Z-test for proportion. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically.The study results indicate that the developed model is based on the Community-Based Development approach and consists of the following components 1)Establishment of a community network 2) Development of patient care guidelines in three phases: pre-incident, incident, and post-incident 3) Enhancement of key mechanisms, including a patient screening system, emergency response protocols, and continuous care through the "Light of Hope School" 4)Capacity building for the community network through hands-on training and emergency response drills 5) Creation of the "Ban Khai Chit Dee" database system via an application to enable the community to systematically monitor patients.After the development, the community network demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge and level of care for chronic mental patients (p<0.001), with an overall satisfaction rate of 97.68 %. Moreover, the behavior and functioning of chronic mental patients improved significantly (p<0.001) |
