Abstract Vegetable soybean seeds frequently exhibit reduced germination rates and weak seedling development following planting, likely attributed to nutrient-depleted soils from intensive cultivation practices. This research sought to determine the most suitable nutrient types and concentrations for improving germination and seedling development in vegetable soybeans. Seeds underwent coating treatment with nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) at four concentration levels. Findings indicated that NH4NO3 coating at 3.0 g/L produced notably better (P<0.01) emergence and germination percentages, plus increased shoot length relative to uncoated seeds under sand conditions. In top-of-paper covered with sand testing, NH4NO3 at 3.0 g/L demonstrated faster germination compared to alternative treatments. Data from both testing methods showed that NH4NO3 coating at all concentration levels produced no meaningful differences in root length and root fresh weight compared to uncoated controls. The investigation concludes that NH4NO3 coating at 3.0 g/L represents the most effective type and concentration to enhance germination and seedling growth in vegetable soybean seedlings.
