| Abstract | Purpose: The World Bank's survey-based Logistics Performance Index (LPI), published since 2007 and updated in 2023, has faced criticism for potential bias leading to inaccurate performance representation. This research benchmarks the relationship between the LPI (2018-Old method and 2023-New method) and national productivity in ASEAN countries. The goal is to prove both LPI methods positively influence national productivity, supporting sound long-term government policy. Research design, data and methodology: This study employs a quantitative research methodology, utilizing data sourced from the World Bank database. Regression analysis was conducted to establish the relationship between the variables. The national productivity served as the dependent variable, and the Logistics Performance Index was the independent variable. Results: The results indicated the regression models were valid both years at 95% Confidence Interval. R-Squared Adjusted values were 60% for 2018 and 48% for 2023. Conclusions: This research concludes that utilizing the Logistics Performance Index as a primary monitoring metric can potentially enhance national productivity from the period of the previous version to that of the new version. This new finding is recommended for nations implementing policies to improve their index scores, as this would subsequently contribute to a parallel increase in national productivity over the long term of ASEAN countries. |
