| Abstract | Caudillismo has been a dominant cultural manifestation within Latin nations. It is grounded in fundamental value premises of Hispanic culture, derived from traditional Spain. Much has been written about how caudillismo has impacted in the political sphere, but little research has been done to assess its impact in the world of commerce and, specifically, as a model for leadership in business. This study created a literature review that highlights the fundamental value orientations and cultural dimensions of caudillismo in order to assess its worth as a model for leadership in the business world. Recommendations are made, based on this critical assessment, and suggestions are provided for future research. |
