Abstract The present study examines the determinants of liquidity of listed companies in India. The analysis is based on data collected from 219 large companies of Bombay Stock Exchange 500 index. The study evaluates the determinants of liquidity by taking current ratio as well as quick ratio as dependent variables for checking sensitivity. We found current assets to total assets, operating profit margin and receivable days positively determine the level of liquidity. Payable days, trade debtors to current assets, current liability to total assets and size of the firm negatively determine the liquidity.
