| Abstract | The evaluation for physical performance such as walking test is an important for measure of a person's well-being. Nowadays, medical technology plays a significant role for evaluation of health status. Nevertheless, the medical devices are not easily accessible and services, or the devices are intended for research purposes only and are inconvenient for clinical use. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a prototype physical performance assessor device with a mobile application and explore the correlation between standard 6-minute walk test and wearable sensor 6-minute walk test in healthy adults. Methods: Sixty healthy males and females, aged above 18 years, were required to attach at their dominated ankle while those performed the standard protocol for 6-minute walk test. After completed the walking test, the distances for 6-minute were recorded and compared between the wearable sensor 6-minute walk distance with a mobile application and a standard 6-minute walk distance. Results: There is no statistically significant difference between the distancebetween the standard 6-minute walk test (410.12 ± 74.03 meters) and the distance obtained with wearable sensor with a mobile application (395.36 ± 67.72 meters, p =0.056 for estimate by stride length and 411.98 ± 72.72 meters, p =0.766 for real stride length). Moderate and strong correlation (r= 0.661, p < 0.001 for estimate stride length and r= 0.781, p < 0.001 for real stride length, respectively) were found while compared the distance between standard 6-minute walk test and wearable sensor 6-minute walk test. Conclusion: Innovative prototype walking wearable sensor with a mobile application can effectively evaluate physical performance in healthy people. |
