| Abstract | This research aims to investigate the phenomenon of innovation creation within the vocational education context, utilizing the Data to Innovative Wisdom (DIKWIR) transition model as a conceptual framework. The objectives were to explore the lived experiences and cognitive processes of teachers and students, elucidate the contextual conditions of institutions under the Nongbualamphu Provincial Office of Vocational Education influencing success, and synthesize a conceptual model of the innovative wisdom development pathway. Employing a qualitative phenomenological methodology, data were collected via in-depth interviews with 15 award-winning innovators and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that the cognitive transition process is characterized as a non-linear dynamic cycle. It originates from empathy toward community scarcity, which proves more critical than statistical data, serving as a catalyst for integrating craftsmanship skills into crystallized wisdom. This occurs within the context of an innovation from scarcity environment that emphasizes simplicity and practicality, underpinned by a mentorship culture. A crucial finding validates the role of Reflection, a novel component that complements the original model to ensure sustainability. Consequently, the study suggests that vocational education policy should focus on establishing safe spaces for trial and error and revising assessment criteria to prioritize the reflective process equally with the innovation output, thereby elevating Thai innovators’ competencies to international standards. |
