| Abstract | Dengue remains a significant public health problem in Thailand, particularly in areas with high population density and mobility such as industrial estates, where there is an increased risk of disease transmission within factories and surrounding communities. Therefore, the development of surveillance, prevention, and control systems in workplaces is essential. This study aimed to develop and evaluate guidelines for dengue surveillance, prevention, and control in industrial factories, using Amata City Industrial Estate, Chonburi Province, as a pilot area. The study population included both community members and industrial factories. Baseline data were collected using observational checklists and structured questionnaires developed in accordance with the study objectives, covering vector control, environmental and safety management, and disease surveillance and management systems. Knowledge improvement was assessed pre- and post-training tests. Operational performance was evaluated through assessment tools and on-site visits, focusing on policy establishment, action plans, responsible personnel, mosquito breeding sites elimination, screening of suspected dengue cases, health education for workers, and response measures for suspected or confirmed dengue cases. Additionally, lessons learned were gathered through group discussions using the Objective Reflective Interpretive and Decisional (ORID) method with 64 participants from both community and industrial sectors. The results showed that baseline data collection and stakeholder engagement led to the development of practical guidelines for dengue surveillance, prevention, and control in industrial settings. Key components of the guidelines included policy formulation, operational planning, designation of responsible personnel, vector control measures, case detection, health education, and response protocols for suspected or confirmed dengue cases. A total of 64 participants attended the training workshop, and 73.44% (47 participants) demonstrated improved knowledge and understanding. Evaluation of participating factories revealed that one factory achieved an excellent level, while three factories reached a participatory level. Lessons learned indicated that the developed guidelines effectively supported dengue surveillance, prevention, and control in industrial settings. Continuous implementation and enhanced communication are recommended to increase engagement among workplaces and surrounding communities. |
