| Abstract | This research article aims to (1) study the political roles of the Democrat Party in Bangkok Metropolis from 2019 to 2023, (2) study the factors affecting the political popularity of the Democrat Party in Bangkok Metropolis from 2019 to 2023, and (3) study the policy to regain the political popularity of the Democrat Party in Bangkok Metropolis from 2019 to 2023. Qualitative research techniques were employed. Data were collected using the techniques of important documentary research and in-depth interview with eight executives and members of the Democrat Party, and forty-eight eligible voters who had previously voted for the Democrat Party. Using the interpretation on dialectics.Findings are as follows: (1) The political roles include: The Party faced a decrease in popularity. The Party encountered the loss of political roles at a local level. The Party faced with such structural disadvantages. The Party still has an opportunity to revive if its image and structure can be adjusted to be transparent with good communication with new generations. (2) The factors affecting political popularity include: The loss of important members and the image that did not correspond with the new generations. The New Dem Group did not gain internal support from the Party. Participation of the Party members in the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC). Party could not respond to the expectations of the new generations. (3) The policy to regain political popularity include: The Party focused on improving its image to be more modern by using digital media and social media. The internal structure of the Party was adjusted to be transparent and adhered to political ethics. Policies that responded to both the new generations and the former bastion were developed. Connections were fostered with members of the general public through constant visits. |
