Abstract The evaluation of yield and fruit quality of the BC2-1-15-9-9 and 56-1-7-6-5 lines was conducted by comparing them with three commercial cultivars. Data were recorded on 18 agronomic and yield-related traits. All cultivars were grown in 15-inch pots under a completely randomized design (CRD). Data on 18 agronomic and yield-related traits were collected, and correlations among traits were analyzed. The BC2-1-15-9-9 line yielded 1.30 kg/plant, with early fruiting (~64 days after transplanting), and showed no significant differences in fruit quality compared to commercial cultivars. Additionally, BC2-1-15-9-9 exhibited a high TSS content (5.22 °Brix) and a rich pink fruit color (L*=35.48, a*=27.10, b*=24.34 and C=36.55) than the commercial varieties. The 56-1-7-6-5 line produced a higher yield of 1.92 kg/plant but had a late first harvest (~71 days after transplanting). Its fruit quality was also comparable to commercial lines. Notable characteristics of this line included a high number of branches per plant (8.17 branches), lower titratable acidity (2.70%), and a lighter pink color (L*=36.90, a*=19.04, b*=20.99 and C=36.55). Based on their agronomic performance, both breeding lines show potential for market testing and varietal release. Pearson correlation analysis among 14 traits revealed strong negative correlations between the first fruit set date after transplanting and titratable acidity, number of branches and firmness, fruit weight and fruit shape index (FSI), plant height and firmness as well as fruit weight, FSI and titratable acidity, and pericarp thickness. In contrast, strong positive correlations were found between total yield and marketable yield, fruit weight and pericarp thickness, TSS and a* color value and C value. Additionally, C value was highly correlated with a* and b* color values. These correlations among agronomic and quality traits can be used as selection criteria in the Sida tomato breeding program.
