| Abstract | This research aimed to analyze Thai writing errors in the articles written by 4th-year cadets at the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy. The population consisted of 252 cadets enrolled in the Thai Language 2 (LG 4002) course during the 2023 academic year. The writing errors were analyzed based on grammatical rules and sentence structures. The results were summarized and discussed using descriptive analysis.The research identified five main characteristics of Thai writing errors among the 4th-year cadets: 1. Spelling: Errors included (in descending order of frequency) final consonants, vowels, initial consonants, tone marks, silent letters (Karan), and entire word misspellings. 2. Word Usage: Errors involved incorrect word choice, redundancy, misuse of royal vocabulary, use of colloquialisms in formal writing, repetitive words, and the incorrect use of conjunctions, prepositions, and classifiers. 3. Sentence Construction: Errors included the use of foreign idioms, poor sentence arrangement, and the use of mixed language registers. 4. Punctuation and Numerals: Errors included incorrect spacing, punctuation marks, paragraphing, and number formatting. 5. Writing Format: Errors involved the format of exemplification words, font and numeral sizes, and referencing. The research findings can be utilized to plan instructional activities aimed at correcting these errors and further developing the cadets’ writing skills. |
