| Abstract | This research aimed to (1) investigate the English proficiency of agripreneurs and (2) analyze their needs for English skills development. The participants were ten agripreneurs in Phrae Province. Data were collected using a questionnaire and interviews to examine their needs for the development of six English language skills. Descriptive statistics and the Modified Priority Need Index ($PNI_{modified}$) were employed for the needs analysis.rnrnThe results revealed that the respondents had a low to moderate level of English proficiency. Reading was identified as their strongest skill (x = 2.90, S.D. = 0.99), while grammar was the weakest (x = 2.00, S.D. = 0.67).rnrnThe findings also indicated that the agripreneurs had the greatest need for speaking skill development, particularly in presenting business ideas to buyers or investors ($PNI_{modified}$ = 1.353). This was followed by needs for reading, listening, writing, and vocabulary development, respectively. Grammar was considered the least necessary area for development; however, within this category, the respondents indicated the greatest need for learning basic English tenses used to describe past, present, and future events ($PNI_{modified}$ = 1.333).rnrnThe findings of this study can serve as guidelines for designing course content, instructional syllabi, or English for Specific Purposes (ESP) curricula that respond to the needs of agripreneurs in the Thai context. |
