| Abstract | This research project aims to evaluate the design of an Action Learning (AL) introductorybusiness course to be integrated into theMasterof Business Administration (MBA)programof a Bangkok-based international business school. An 8-weeek course was designedapplying the AL approach and an interpretive qualitative approach used to evaluate it. In addition to observations by the author, students in the class shared their experiences at various points in time (while taking this course, at the end of it, and one year after they completed their coursework). Moreover, learning reflectionswere assigned every two weeks, and a research focus group comprising some of the students in this class was formed for the purpose of assessing the course.Consistent with previous studies, the findings suggestthat the AL approach has the potential to enhance a wide variety of skills. One of the most important skills they had to master was teamwork. While students acknowledged that it took time to learn, accept, and correctly implement the AL approach, the overall work efficiency of the teams improved dramatically past this point. The value of this particular course design evaluation liesin its contribution to practice and theresearch design. |
