| Abstract | For smart concretes to be developed, it must be gathering high mechanical and durability properties, in addition to satisfying special characteristics such as self-monitoring of damage. This study outlines attempts to develop advanced Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) with combined self-sensing and self-healing capabilities. The aim is to maintain or improve the high mechanical and ductility properties of ECC, while enhancing the self-monitoring and self-healing capabilities. To assure the self-sensing functionality, carbon-based materials with different volumes were incorporated in ECC formulations. The self-healing rates of control and piezoresistive ECC |
